Have you ever dreamed of being able to quickly upload any video to your account, without having to register to your account before ? Of course some of you have discovered that with any vpod.tv account, you can quickly use ftp to upload files to your own account : ftp://upload.vpod.tv using your regular username and password.
The problem for the ftp approach is two-fold:
- many folks don't even know what ftp is, or how to use it
- some firewalls do not let the usage of ftp
Hence, at vpod.tv, we thought of something else : what if we made a local HTTP uploader (that is, using the same port / service than standard web browsing). What if this uploader would sit on your desktop as a widget, always accessible ? What if this widget were intelligent enough to manage proxy configurations, multiple uploads, could support multiple languages, and be FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE for customers (their colors, their logo, their app name) ?
Well, you've named it: it's the brand new vpod.tv QuickUploader in its nice alpha 0.9 release.
Here's a direct link to download the PC version. The Mac version is fully functional and should be released in just a few days is available here. There's unfortunately no plans yet for a Linux version.
Oh, and by the way, we also have a professional version, called QuickUploader Pro that we sell. It's added benefits are:
* desktop video editing with local trimming possibilities (that is you cut a piece of the beginning of the video, a piece at the end), so that you only upload what you really need
* local encoding and compression of the video, so that you optimize your upload time
* local watermarking with a picture (or text) of your choice
* selection of compression quality.
This application can also be fully customized for corporations, enabling them for example to launch a site with their own brand, and offering this application to their own customers. Options here would be to restrict the application to upload videos only to that site, with an embedded watermarking of the video).
Other applications include in-stream advertising for example...
